About the Author
William Pride (Ph.D., Louisiana State University) is a professor of marketing in the Mays Business School, Texas A&M University. In addition to this text, he is co-author of a market-leading principles of marketing book. Dr. Pride's research interests include advertising, promotion, and distribution channels, and his research articles have appeared in major professional journals, such as the Journal of Marketing, the Journal of Marketing Research, the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, and the Journal of Advertising. Dr. Pride is a member of the American Marketing Association, Academy of Marketing Science, Society for Marketing Advances, and the Marketing Management Association. He has received the Marketing Fellow Award from the Society of Marketing Advances and the Marketing Innovation Award from the Marketing Management Association. Both of these are lifetime achievement awards.

Robert J. Hughes (Ph.D., University of North Texas) specializes in business administration and college instruction. He has taught Introduction to Business for more than 35 years both on campus and online for Richland College, one of seven campuses that are part of the Dallas County Community College District. In addition to BUSINESS and FOUNDATIONS OF BUSINESS, published by Cengage Learning, he has authored college textbooks in personal finance and business mathematics and served as a content consultant for two popular national television series, "It's Strictly Business" and "Dollars & Sense: Personal Finance for the 21st Century." He is also the co-author of a new online Introduction to Business course for Dallas County Community Colleges that accompanies the FOUNDATIONS OF BUSINESS text. In addition, he is lead author for a business math project utilizing artificial intelligence and computer-assisted instruction funded by the ALEKS Corporation. He is active in many academic and professional organizations and has served as a consultant and investment adviser to individuals, businesses, and charitable organizations. Dr. Hughes is the recipient of three different Teaching in Excellence Awards at Richland College. According to Dr. Hughes, after 35 years of teaching Introduction to Business, the course is still exciting: "There's nothing quite like the thrill of seeing students succeed, especially in a course like Introduction to Business, which provides the foundation for not only academic courses, but also life in the real world."

Jack R. Kapoor (Ed.D., Northern Illinois University) is professor of business and economics in the Business and Technology Division at the College of DuPage, where he has taught Introduction to Business, Marketing, Management, Economics, and Personal Finance since 1969. He previously taught at Illinois Institute of Technology's Stuart School of Management, San Francisco State University's School of World Business, and other colleges. Professor Kapoor was awarded the Business and Services Division's Outstanding Professor Award. He has also served as an Assistant National Bank Examiner for the U.S. Treasury Department and as an international trade consultant to Bolting Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Mumbai, India. Dr. Kapoor is known internationally as a coauthor of several textbooks, including FOUNDATIONS OF BUSINESS, 5E (Cengage Learning). He has served as a content consultant for the popular national television series "The Business File: An Introduction to Business" and has developed two full-length audio courses in business and personal finance. He has been quoted in many national newspapers and magazines, including USA Today, U.S. News & World Report, the Chicago Sun-Times, Crain's Small Business, the Chicago Tribune, and other publications. Dr. Kapoor has traveled around the world and has studied business practices in capitalist, socialist, and communist countries.

You have been warned

I just passed exam 70-480. I wanted to wait until after I took the test to review this book. First off, believe the other reviews who say this book is full of errors: it is. I didn't believe it could be so bad, but it is. There are also lots of type-o's and grammar mistakes. It's like this was rushed to print with absolutely no editing or proof reading. The only good thing I have to say about this book is: once I realized how many errors there were, I double-checked everything myself to make sure what the book said was (or wasn't) accurate and that helped me learn the material better. As far as learning the subject matter, you are better off with the Training Guide. As far as prepping for the test, you are better off with the Transcender and/or Measure Up practice tests. If you only rely on this book to pass the exam, I can pretty much guarantee that you will not pass. I'm going for other MCSD exams next and the reviews of other Microsoft Press books are even worse than this one, so I will not be purchasing any more Microsoft Press books; I've learned my lesson.

Left Me More Confused Than When I Started

The only good thing about the book is it goes through the exam objectives and has sample questions for each objective. There's also a "critical thinking" section at the end of chapters which makes the reader try to write the code for the exam objectives which they just read. However, the examples used for exam objectives aren't fully written and leaves the reader lost sometimes trying to figure out how things work. I've had to refer to W3C and Mozilla many, many times to figure out how JavaScript methods are supposed to work. I plan on taking the exam, but if I relied totally on this book then I'd fail with flying colors.

WARNING - WARNING - WARNING!!!!

I'm currently 85% of the way through reading this book in preparation for the exam. I must say, this is an absolutely sloppy pile of crap! It is full of errors. As an exam preparation book, you would think that the question and answers would be well written, and correct. Obviously no one at the publisher bothered to proofread the questions and answers, or even test them. Several questions are missing from the answers section or numbered incorrectly. Dozens of the questions and answers have errors in them meaning that in some cases, there isn't an actual correct answer. And, once you've answered them and mark yourself, you'll be confused, because the answers are just plain WRONG!

If you buy this book, you are guaranteed to get frustrated and confused.

The content itself, is not bad. Another month, polishing, proofreading and testing would've made a big difference to the quality of this book. As it stands, it's a big disappointment!

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

This book is a serviceable resource for anyone seeking this certification – but there’s some room for improvement.
The good news is that the material is comprehensive. There are approximately 200 multiple-choice type questions designed to test the same concepts that are addressed in the real exam. The layout is basic, but user-friendly. The correct answers and a description of why they are correct immediately follow each question and set of choices. That’s good because it encourages prospective candidates to identify and learn the concept, rather than just “studying to the test.”
However, this setup also has its drawbacks. Specifically, it could encourage some candidates to simply skim through the material in search of the correct answers instead of trying to determine the correct answer on their own.
But if your sole purpose is to clear the certification, then this is where the book scores!!

Grade 1-3–Who is Earth Mother? There is no definition or description but she appears to be a form of Mother Nature, blessing and talking to all of the animals on Earth (including Man), tending the plants, bringing the snow and ice to northern climes, and touching the cycle of life. Depicted as a young African-American woman, Earth Mother is serene and gentle, passing through her day and making everyone aware that all is exactly the way it should be. Unfortunately, the text is dry and static: �€˜You are kind to me, Earth Mother,' said Man. �€˜You have sent Frog to fill my belly and I am grateful.' Nothing much happens: Man complains that Mosquito bites him, Frog complains that Man eats him, and Mosquito complains that Frog eats him. The magnificent illustrations are classic Leo and Diane Dillon, with a palette dominated by browns, greens, blues, and other earth tones. Soft and elegant, they beg for a brighter text. Still, reading it a few times helps readers realize the book's calming effect. In today's crazy world, an example of things following a routine with soft, caring people and animals is not a bad thing. PreS-Gr. 2. When this lovely, serene African Earth Mother blows across the mesas of the sage-covered deserts, she becomes the wind beneath a hawk's wings. She gives beetles shiny jackets and guides sunbirds to nectar-filled blossoms. In other words, she is the real thing. In an amusing three-part sequence, Man complains to Earth Mother: Frog is very good eating, he says, but Mosquito is annoying. An Earth with no Mosquito, he thinks, would surely be perfect. Earth Mother listens patiently, but her eyes express her true response! Later, Frog feels free to file a complaint. He loves tasty Mosquito, but Man? He is a dangerous predator. The third complainer, Mosquito, fears Frog but is grateful for Man's blood. At day's end, Earth Mother smilingly ignores them all and bids goodnight to her children of all species: "And the world, in its own way, was perfect." The Dillons' watercolor-and-colored-pencil illustrations, filled with geometric patterns, are magical; each is soft and elegant and as artfully composed as an art nouveau poster. A large, flowering plant stalk overlays each bordered frame, further emphasizing the vitality of nature so well captured in this quietly funny, well-told tale. Karin Snelson

Uplift the image of black women.

I got this to control the image of black women in the lives of our children.
we are aggressively misrepresented and so as i read this lovely story my son
found her beautiful and powerful. we discussed the creater and gender abilities.
my daughter loved it too. for educators who would like to improve the self esteem of black girls..starting from the lowest grade levels is truly effective. they are overwhelmed with the celebration of non black women and girls as the idea of beauty. this book can open up a dialogue as to the true beauty of a woman.

we discussed the comedy of everyone being satisfied yet disatisfied. we focused on gratitude
and appreciation for the creaters design.
the illustration is pretty. the colors are light and intentional.
we all enjoyed this.

A challenging piece on meeting God face to face.

F.B. Meyer's quiet language slices through complacency to awaken in a tired, sometimes disillusioned soul the hunger to know the God that Moses met, worshiped, served and came to know intimately. I found myself wanting to devour the work in one sitting; yet, needing to pause after each chapter to allow the depth of teaching to take hold. His style is one of conversation rather than dislogue. You become intimately a part of Moses journey through Meyer's sincere love and hunger to know God.

Great Little Book, Don't Let The Size Fool You!

"Moses Servant of God" by F.B. Meyer is one of the best biographies I have read, period! While the book is small(only around 190 pages), it's a great read and encourages the reader to see how Moses got to know and experience God.

Among the topics covered include:

1. Allow God to let failure and disappointment draw you closer to Him.
2. Deliberately spend time alone with God! While this book was written several years ago, in my humble opinion, spending time alone with God is a precious commodity today!
3. Learn to rest in God instead of striving in your flesh.
4. Let God have His way with you and develop character in you.
5. Fear God instead of fearing other people.

I checked this book out of a local church library and will probably refer to the title again sometime in the future.

Highly recommended. Read, enjoy, think, and be challenged to grow in the Lord!

Moses, the Servant of God (Classic Reprint). This is an in-depth book written by F.B.Meyer that scholarly brings out the applications we tend to be unaware of. The life of Moses is well displayed in the word of God but the information contained in this book will elaborate on the details and carefully paint pictures on the canvas of our hearts, allowing his life to shed truths about the journeys we will find ourselves in. Preachers will enjoy this greatly as each chapter is loaded with sermon ideas and principles in God's word that will challenge others to climb higher in their Christian attributes. You will want to digest this material slowly while meditating on the truths contained.
Learn, for example, that the secrets to Moses growth in character were obedience, patience, courage, faith, and prayer. Woven throughout are realities that he was a mere human and suffered the frustrations of life, yet did not succumb to quitting, but in fact grew close to the heart of God and was entrusted with increasingly more. Just how God shapes a man into a useful, trustworthy vessel will be revealed. Life is a process, and learning is a lifetime; Moses knew well it would not be a sprint but in the marathon of life he ran, he will stand before us with lessons to encourage our pilgrimage.
Because of the excellence in which the late F.B.Meyer writes, it will be worth exploring other great works from him as well.

Two Out of Three!

Sections ONE and THREE were excellent! Section ONE reviews the science and Section THREE attempts to integrate MIND and CONSCIOUSNESS into the genetic equation. In my opinion, these are the areas where the authors shine. Dr. Tanzi is a geneticist
and Dr. Chopra is a philosopher focused on the Unity of Life.

Section TWO -- the practical lifestyle advice -- in my opinion was weak. As far as I know, neither of the authors and currently in
private practice, working with a large number of patients. I found the advice too general and limited. As a clinician, I didn't think they
had the necessary power to match the possibilities that the rest of the book makes available.

Still ... an important work ... and I am glad they wrote it!

Get the book if you want to improve your body and mind

I heard about this book on Conan he had deepak chopra talk about it. I am not someone special by any means i put fuel in trucks for a window company thats my job. But this guy made my brain click if you have a understanding about things a average person wouldn't even think about get this book it might change your life by opening your mind because it makes sense. When i talk to my family about something similar they look at me like your nuts and half retard. But anyways i dont explain myself very well sometimes i sound like i need to go back to school I've been told. So starting on one improvement i need to quit talking about myself. Get the book

Disappointed

This was a lot of fluff - I am a health care professional, so I do appreciate research studies backing things up, but I felt like there was just too much rambling and not enough solid information here. Yes, probiotics are good, we already know this. I didn't read this expecting to gain some huge new revelation, but I felt like I wasted my money on it. Deepak seems to be recycling his ideas a lot lately and I didn't learn anything new. Meditate, eat well, take a probiotic. There you go, the book in 10 words or less.
