Light hearted educational picture book for kids of all ages

Whoever coined the proverb, "a picture is worth a thousand words" could have been talking about Jack's Garden by Henry Cole.
This book is an excellent illustration of how, step by step, a garden is planted and what the seeds and living creatures do from that point on. We get to see above and below the soil as the garden progresses throughout the season. There are all the names of the plants and creatures labelled neatly next to each, on the main page and in the margins. Best of all, the classic children's poem about the house that Jack built is modified into a catchy text for each picture that makes understanding the magic of a little garden ecosystem effortless for kids as young as three years.
Top notch illustrations and a unique format set this picture book apart and earned it a permanent place in my collection. I only wish I had it in hardback!

Excellent plant book!

This book is outstanding! Far from being for just the pre-school/younger elementary set, it has a wealth of information which even older kids can benefit from. In addition to the text based on the House That Jack Built, it has labeled drawings of garden tools, insects in the soil, seeds, clouds,parts of plants, plants, butterflies, birds, and other insects. We (my kids ages 4 thru 10 and I) had fun pointing out the things we know and learning the ones we didn't. The illustrations are excellent- colorful and detailed. This book is a wonderful addition to homeschool unit studies on plants.

In 1978, Mou Zongsan delivered a series of lectures to graduate students outlining his unique East-West comparative approach. Published in Chinese in 1983, the transcription of those lectures has been a primary resource for learning about Chinese philosophy. In Nineteen Lectures on Chinese Philosophy, these public addresses are presented in English for the very first time. Rigorously researched and cross-referenced with Mou’s previous works, this meticulous translation also includes synopses and key concepts that further enhance this essential resource for anyone interested in a deeper study of Chinese philosophy.

About the Author

Mou Zongsan was born in 1909 in Shandong Province, China. He studied philosophy at Peking University from 1929 to 1933 and went on to teach philosophy in universities in China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong until his passing in 1995. His original works, consisting of thirty-three volumes, were published in 2003 in The Complete Works of Mou Zongsan. He is widely considered a leading figure of New Confucianism, but he also contributed greatly to the field of philosophy, moving far beyond the confines of a single label.

Wonderful Book! Leaves you feeling hopeful!

Having read many books on the subject I was struck at how unique this book was in comparison to others. While Max keeps his story to his experiences, through his eyes, it is a telling story of survival, cunning and just plain luck helped him survive four camps during the Holocaust. What is unique in this book is its continuation of his experiences after he was liberated and how he had to learn how to survive being out of the camps. I met the author recently and at almost 88 years old he still had a twinkle in his eye and is loved by his family. He has a compelling nature that when you meet him you feel welcome. He told me "enjoy each day of life". This is a book that you can't put down - it is a quick read - but your thoughts linger back to its contents for weeks after finishing.

Impressive Work

Hadzic's Peripheral Nerve Blocks and Anatomy for USGRA offers up to date information for beginners or novice in the field of Regional Anesthesia. Having just purchased the book, i am impressed at what this book has to offer. This is an impressive textbook written by worlds expert in the field. It offers fundamental knowledge on performance of nerve blocks with nerve stimulation as well as ultrasound guidance. What is unique about this textbook is the display of gross anatomical dissections along with ultrasound imaging. This is something that i have never seen in other textbooks. Furthermore, most chapters offer flowcharts that help to summarize important facts and details. This book is a must buy for residents in training and anesthesiologists in practice.

Not a bad book but still antiquated with the majority of the book directed toward stim. Out of 8 sections, only 3 directed toward US. The US section is OK but for the size of this book should have more images of what to avoid (aberrant arteries, et cetera), Would like to see more detail in regard to US. It is pointless focusing just on stim anymore.

Great textbook and atlas!

This is printed on glossy paper throughout with glorious color illustrations. I am a first year Orthopedics and Trauma resident in Japan and I found this extremely helpful and easy to understand. All the recommendations are very practical and based on literature reviews and the ultrasound images are state of the art. The range of techniques described is impressive. All the rarely used and new blocks are here and described in detail so I feel I can start applying them with the book alone even though I don't have anyone to guide me through the procedures here.
On Hokkaido we don't have enough anesthesiologists so when I go to work at a rural hospital next year I would probably have to make extensive use of this manual. Gonna add a review based on clinical experience then.
